01 — PROJECT INTRO

OIOIOI Art Gallery

international Art gallery · St. Petersburg · 2010

Building an international contemporary art gallery — and the creative system that allowed it to grow.

03 — EDITORIAL TEXT

Context and challenge

OIOIOI was an international contemporary art gallery in Saint Petersburg with an ambition to become more than a place where artworks were displayed.

The challenge was to build the creative and operational structure around the gallery: exhibitions, communication, production and collaboration.

05 — MY CONTRIBUTION

What Cristiano made happen

I worked across creative direction, exhibition design and production.

My role included communication, exhibition environments, coordination of artists and suppliers, documentation and production.

I helped create the structure that allowed a growing programme of exhibitions and cultural events to happen.

07 — BEHIND THE SCENES / KEY MOMENT

A useful turning point

Every exhibition involved artists, communication, installation, logistics and production.

The challenge was not producing each element, but creating a system that could make the whole process work again and again without losing quality.

09 — WHAT I LEARNED

A reflection

OIOIOI taught me that creative organisations do not grow simply because talented people work harder.

They grow when someone creates the conditions that allow talented people to do their best work.
